Dear Mr Tzanos Did you know the Red Cross has its very own day? It's on 8 May to coincide with our founder Henry Dunant's birthday and we celebrate it each year by holding a whole week of fundraising – and it's that time right now. Yes, it's Red Cross Appeal Week – and it's not too late to get involved. There are plenty of events happening up and down the country, from murder mystery nights to Monte Carlo-themed balls. And some people are even continuing the party into the fortnight after – so make sure to check the events listings to see what's going on near you. This year also marks the 65th anniversary of the end of the Second World War – a time when Red Cross volunteers around the globe helped the wounded and displaced. Visit our blog for a series of special Appeal Week and Second World War posts. Wishing you a very happy Red Cross Appeal Week. Mark Astarita Director of Fundraising |
